Universal Kids Resort Opens July 1 — Seven Lands of Pure Kid Magic Await

Grab the sunscreen and charge the camera! Universal Kids Resort, Universal Destinations & Experiences' first-ever regional theme park designed specifically for kids, officially opens its gates in Frisco, Texas, on July 1. The wait is almost over, and honestly, the kids are not the only ones who should be excited.

A Park Built in a Kid's Brain

This is not Universal Orlando with the roller coasters swapped out for smaller ones. Universal Kids Resort was built from the ground up for families with little ones -- think gentler rides, wonderfully bright colors, beloved characters at every turn, and enough space to roam without the whole thing feeling like sensory overload. Every single detail was designed through a child's eyes, from signs placed at their height to colors chosen specifically to draw them in.

For the moments when the magic gets to be a little too much, Universal thoughtfully tucked sensory garden zones throughout the park -- calm, nature-inspired spaces where kids and grown-ups alike can slow down, reset, and reconnect through touch, sound, and color before heading back out for round two.

Seven Lands, Infinite Imagination

The 20-acre park is packed with seven themed lands, and each one has its own flavor of fun. Here is a look at what is waiting inside every single one.

Isle of Curiosity

The adventure starts before even stepping foot into the main park. Isle of Curiosity is the whimsical gateway at the park's entrance, full of nooks to explore and big personality from the very first step. Gabby from DreamWorks' Gabby's Dollhouse holds court here with a meet-and-greet and a dance party that sets the tone for the whole day. Mini-sized magic, maximum fun.

DreamWorks' Shrek's Swamp

Shrek has turned his swampy digs into a full-on ogre paradise. Families can meet Shrek and Fiona, snap a photo in the iconic onion carriage, and let kids loose in two interactive play areas: Shrek's Swamp Rompin' Stomp and Shrek's Swamp Splash and Smash. It is charming, it is a little muddy in the best way, and that onion carriage photo is absolutely getting framed.

DreamWorks' Puss in Boots Del Mar

The most dashing land in the park brings Puss in Boots, Mama Luna, Perrito, and friends to a sun-soaked seaside village setting. Challenge the carnival games like Barriles de Leche and El Gato's Meow, then stick around for a character meet-and-greet with the cat who knows exactly how charming he is.

Illumination's Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club

Yellow Minions versus Purple Minions, and it is every bit as gloriously chaotic and soaking wet as it sounds. Jump into the action or pull up a seat and watch the mayhem unfold -- either way, a Minions meet-and-greet and interactive play areas are in the mix. Expect banana jokes, big laughs, and a very memorable photo.

Jurassic World Adventure Camp

This one is for the dino lovers. Scale the Lookout Towers for a Pteranodon's-eye view of the whole park, and keep an eye out for the most exciting meet-and-greet in the whole resort -- a newly hatched baby raptor encounter that turns any kid into a junior paleontologist on the spot.

DreamWorks' TrollsFest

The music is bumping and the glitter is absolutely flying in Troll Kingdom. Meet Poppy, Branch, and the whole gang at a glitter-filled meet-and-greet, then head to Poppy's Playland and Trolls Critter Crawl for seriously good vibes. Glitter is basically guaranteed. Consider it a feature, not a bug.

Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom

Are you ready, kids? SpongeBob, Patrick Star, Squidward Tentacles, and Sandy Cheeks -- yes, Texas' very own Sandy Cheeks -- are all here and ready to make it the best day ever. Explore Mussel Beach for a breather or head to Pineapple Paradise for some splashy nautical nonsense. Because "F" is for friends who do stuff together.

Tickets, Passes, and All the Good Stuff

Single-day tickets start at $54.99 per person on weekdays and climb to $79.99 for peak times like Labor Day Weekend. Annual passes start at just $129.99 for those who plan to make this a regular thing.

Families who want the full experience can build a "Create Your Own" package that bundles hotel accommodations, flights, and ticket options -- including a specialty 1.5-day admission ticket -- along with perks like early park admission, resort-wide charging privileges, and free delivery of any merchandise purchased during the trip.

A Hotel That Gets It

Right next to all the action sits a cheerful 300-room hotel complete with an outdoor pool and resort amenities. The Universal Kids Resort Hotel actually serves as the park's entrance, making it the most convenient home base imaginable. Rooms range from Standard Queen to Family Suites sleeping up to six guests, with stays available beginning June 30 -- the perfect setup for an early arrival and a serious head start on the magic.

Ready to Make It Happen?

Universal Kids Resort was made for the moments families talk about for years -- a place where kids and their grown-ups can imagine, relax, and create memories that stick. Reach out to your Crazy Imagination Travel advisor to start planning the ultimate kidcation today!
