Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas Is the Family Vacation Ship Dreams Are Made Of
Royal Caribbean just dropped some seriously exciting news: meet Hero of the Seas, the fourth ship in the Icon Class lineup and the boldest one yet. Setting sail from Miami in August 2027, Hero is packed with more pools, more dining, more thrills, and more ways to make memories that stick.
The Most Pools at Sea (Yes, Really)
With nine distinct pools on board, Hero of the Seas holds the record for the most pools at sea. Whether splashing with the kids or sneaking off for some adult-only relaxation, there is something for everyone in the water.
New to Hero is Coconut Cove, a Caribbean-inspired pool right next to The Lime and Coconut bar, complete with in-water loungers and poolside service. The Hideaway adults-only oasis is getting a major upgrade too, now featuring two pools, the largest swim-up bar at sea, and an in-water DJ booth for those who like their pool time with a beat. Families with little ones will love the refreshed Splashaway Bay aquapark in the Surfside neighborhood, while adults can unwind at the expanded Swim and Tonic pool and swim-up bar.
Thrills That Reach New Heights
Adventure is kind of Hero's whole thing. Category 6, already the largest waterpark at sea, is leveling up with two new family raft slides, including the first-ever funnel raft slide at sea. Storm Chasers, the fan-favorite mat-racing duo, is also getting some exciting new twists.
For those who want to kick the adrenaline up a notch, Crown's Edge combines a skywalk and zip line experience 154 feet above the ocean. The FlowRider surf simulator, Adrenaline Peak rock-climbing wall, Lost Dunes mini-golf course, and sports courts for pickleball, basketball, and soccer round out the action-packed lineup.
28 Dining Venues to Keep Everyone Happy
Hero is serving up the most dining options in the entire Royal Caribbean fleet, with 28 venues bringing global flavors and one-of-a-kind experiences to the table.
Highlights include Orleans Parish Supper Club, a multi-course Cajun and Creole supper club with live jazz and craft cocktails inspired by the French Quarter's golden era. Royal Railway - Hero Station takes immersive dining to the next level, whisking diners away by train car to new destinations through a blend of entertainment, food, and technology.
Families can sharpen their kitchen skills together at new cooking classes in the Surfside neighborhood, with options for all ages and skill levels. The AquaDome Market food hall returns with four new stall concepts, plus Creme de la Crepe for desserts and Simply Pressed for fresh-squeezed juices.
Fleet favorites make the trip too, including Izumi for sushi, Giovanni's Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar, Chops Grille, and Hooked Seafood. Grab-and-go staples like Basecamp, El Loco Fresh, and Sorrento's keep everyone fueled between adventures.
Accommodations Built for the Whole Crew
Hero brings a whole new level of family-friendly staying options, starting with the showstopping Ultimate Family Treehouse. This three-deck marvel comes with a rooftop terrace, private whirlpool, a two-deck teen hangout space, and two main bedrooms each with their own bathroom and balcony.
Prefer something a little more grounded? The Ultimate Family Townhouse spans three levels with direct access to the Surfside neighborhood. Surfside Family Suites and Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies offer even more room to spread out. For those looking to splurge, Royal Loft Suites and Icon Loft Suites deliver spacious luxury with prime ocean views.
The Icon Class Experience, Amplified
All the Icon Class staples that guests love are back on Hero: the Royal Promenade with restaurants, bars, and floor-to-ceiling ocean views; the jaw-dropping Pearl kinetic art sculpture; the lush open-air Central Park with over 30,500 real plants; and entertainment ranging from Royal Theater productions to Absolute Zero, the largest ice arena at sea.
Where Hero of the Seas Is Headed
Hero sets sail on 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami, with every voyage stopping at Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. Western Caribbean routes include stops in Roatan, Honduras, and Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico. Eastern Caribbean itineraries visit Philipsburg, St. Maarten, and Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.
