Magic Kingdom Puts Two Piston Peak Rides in Gear
Start those engines: Piston Peak National Park is bringing two Cars-inspired attractions to Magic Kingdom, and this particular national park has a geyser field, a snowcapped summit and one very large school bus with demolition-derby energy.
New details revealed at D23 put the pedal down on the expanding land’s ride lineup. Guests can expect an off-road race through the “wheelderness” on Cars Ridge Run Rally, plus a rowdy spin with the Cars 3 demolition legend, Miss Fritter.

A Peak-to-Finish-Line Rally
Cars Ridge Run Rally sends racers through scenery inspired by the rugged beauty of America’s national parks. The route climbs Piston Peak itself, reaching an icy, snow-covered mountaintop before dropping into a camelback descent.
From there, racers will navigate a geyser field, circle Old Tankfull geyser and make a final sprint to the finish. Lightning McQueen and Mater will cover the race live from the Racing Sports Network, because apparently even an off-road mountain rally needs its broadcast booth.

This Vehicle Is Built for the Bumps
The rally attraction is also set to debut a completely new ride vehicle. Rather than simply imitating an off-road car, the vehicle is being created to truly operate like one, with tires and suspension that drive over and react to the route’s bumps, drops and rocks.
In short, the mountain trail will not be politely pretending to be rugged.

Miss Fritter Brings the Demolition Derby
The second Piston Peak attraction, Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along, is making its public debut. Inspired by the self-proclaimed “Diva of Demolition” from Cars 3, the experience puts Miss Fritter in charge of her wildest demolition derby yet.
At the center of the action will be a school-bus-sized Miss Fritter animatronic hosting a stampeding bash. Subtle has never been her brand.

A National Park With Plenty of Horsepower
Piston Peak National Park is a fictional wilderness inspired by the Rocky Mountain region, the American Frontier and the iconic sights and history of America’s national parks. Towering trees, waterfalls, rivers, snowcapped mountains and geysers will form the backdrop for the new Cars setting.
Within the park, guests will be able to explore a visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails and more. Imagineers are using “Parkitecture,” an architectural style developed by the National Park Service to help buildings harmonize with their natural surroundings.
Extending Frontierland’s Big American Story
Piston Peak will continue the storytelling path that has linked Liberty Square and Frontierland since Magic Kingdom opened. That journey moves from upstate New York and colonial America in Liberty Square through the North Woods, New Orleans at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the Arizona bluffs of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
The new national park will become part of the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history. Trees will create a natural barrier between the off-road rally and neighboring areas, while rugged mountain peaks rise along the waterway across from Grizzly Hall. Geysers extending from the famed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will carry into the rally’s trails, keeping the land’s wild frontier spirit rolling right along.
