Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Just Got a Whole Lot Bigger at Disneyland
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland just leveled up in a big way. Batuu has opened up across multiple eras of the Star Wars saga, bringing in iconic characters, new storylines, classic film scores, and updated shops that make the land feel richer than ever.
What Is the Galaxy's Edge Timeline Expansion?
Batuu has always been steeped in galactic history, and now that history comes to life across different points in the Star Wars timeline. The expansion weaves together the Galactic Civil War, the New Republic, the Age of the Resistance, and the First Order, all within the same beloved land. New props, updated graphics, and careful storytelling tie each era together without missing a beat.
Iconic Characters Coming to Batuu
The character lineup getting a serious upgrade is one of the biggest draws of this expansion. Here is who to watch for:
Darth Vader arrives on Batuu alongside Imperial Stormtroopers, hunting for Luke Skywalker and sensing the Force throughout the outpost. Luke Skywalker himself roams Black Spire Outpost, seeking knowledge of the Force and artifacts tied to lightsaber building and kyber crystals. Leia Organa can be found near the Millennium Falcon, rallying travelers to help keep Luke safe. Han Solo lingers around his prized ship, always tempted by the nearby cantina.
Ahsoka Tano, The Mandalorian, and Grogu continue to appear near the marketplace. Rey remains stationed at the Resistance camp on the outskirts of the outpost, and R2-D2 still rolls through the land as a fan favorite.
John Williams Scores Set the Mood
As guests move through Galaxy's Edge, they will now be treated to music pulled straight from the first six Star Wars films, all composed by the legendary John Williams. Passing through the tunnels, the iconic Main Title and Force Theme set the tone immediately. Wandering deeper into the land, expect to catch motifs from tracks like "Han Solo and the Princess" and "The Emperor." Inside Oga's Cantina, the "Cantina Band" plays on, fitting perfectly into the outpost's Civil War-era storyline.
Shop and Location Updates
Several spots around Black Spire Outpost are getting fresh looks to match the expanded timeline. First Order Cargo transforms into Black Spire Surplus, a military salvage shop stocked with Imperial and Rebel artifacts from the Galactic Civil War. Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities rotates its inventory to reflect the era, showcasing a different collection of one-of-a-kind curiosities. Droid Depot is now run by an earlier generation of the Mubo family, where they are busy prototyping the BB-style droid. Guests can still build their own droid companion here. Savi's Workshop remains open for lightsaber building under the guidance of Savi's Gatherers, with Luke Skywalker himself taking an interest in the proceedings.
Favorite Attractions and Experiences Are Still There
The expansion builds on top of everything that already makes Galaxy's Edge worth visiting. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is still ready for takeoff, and beloved bites like blue milk and ronto wraps are still on the menu.
After dark, the spires of Batuu serve as a dramatic backdrop for "Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga," a projection show tracing the legendary Skywalker story. On select evenings, "Fire of the Rising Moons" pairs Disneyland fireworks with iconic galactic music for a truly one-of-a-kind finale.
Whether leaning toward the light side, the dark side, or just passing through as a curious traveler, the expanded Galaxy's Edge has more to offer Star Wars fans than ever before.
