Disneyland Resort’s Holiday Ride Overlays Bring Festive Magic to Every Corner
Where Holiday Magic Takes the Wheel at Disneyland Resort
Every holiday season, favorite attractions across Disneyland Resort get a festive makeover. Music, storytelling, and thoughtful little details transform these rides into something entirely new, adding a perfect dash of holiday cheer to the parks.
Here's where to find the seasonal magic:
- Haunted Mansion Holiday
- "it's a small world" Holiday
- Cars Land Attraction Overlays
- Holiday Decor Across the Resort
Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland Park
Right in time for Halloween Time, Haunted Mansion Holiday reimagines the classic attraction with a spooky-meets-cheery twist inspired by Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
As guests pass through the Stretching Room and climb into their black sleigh, Jack Skellington and the residents of Halloween Town have clearly taken over the estate, proving what happens when two holidays collide in the best possible way.
Festive scenes, updated decor, holiday-infused music, and plenty of silly spooks give the Mansion a completely different personality during fall and winter.
Fun Fact: Last year, Imagineers updated the Audio-Animatronics figure of Oogie Boogie near the ride's end, giving him an adjusted pose and silhouette design.
Since every season brings a fresh take on the display, it's become a beloved tradition for returning guests curious to see what Disney Live Entertainment dreams up next.
Beyond the ballroom, even more surprises await deeper in the Mansion. Jack and Zero greet guests heading into the graveyard, while Sally and other Halloween Town residents mingle with familiar ghosts for a playful twist on Grim Grinning Ghosts, building to a showdown with the villainous Oogie Boogie.
Fun Fact: When Haunted Mansion Holiday debuted in October 2001, new dialogue was needed for Madame Leota. The clever solve? Casting Imagineer Kim Irvine, who happens to be the daughter of Leota Toombs, the original Madame Leota.
"it's a small world" Holiday at Disneyland Park
"it's a small world" Holiday remains a seasonal favorite, pulling guests back year after year with its whimsical charm, twinkling lights, and unforgettable finale.
Floating along the Seven Seaways canal, guests will spot familiar scenes dressed up for the holidays, from Mele Kalikimaka cheer in the South Pacific to Feliz Navidad festivities in Mexico, plus New Year traditions woven throughout Europe and Asia.
The iconic soundtrack gets a seasonal remix too, blending It's a Small World (After All) with holiday classics like Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls into one continuous, catchy arrangement.
Fun Fact: Disneyland introduced this holiday overlay back in 1997, and it's remained an annual tradition ever since, complete with decorations, lighting, costumes, props, and effects.
The exterior alone is worth a stop, ranking among the most stunning nighttime photo spots in the entire resort.
Cars Land Gets Its Holiday Groove On
At Disney California Adventure, the residents of Radiator Springs trade their usual routines for festive fun, with holiday music and personality taking over two fan-favorite attractions.
Mater's Jingle Jamboree
Mater's Junkyard Jamboree dresses up for the holidays with Mater's Jingle Jamboree, where the tow truck himself leads a lineup of original, humor-filled seasonal tunes. Tractors spin and swing through a yard decked out in garland and lights, alongside plenty of Easter eggs tucked into the queue.
Luigi's Joy to the Whirl
Down on Route 66, Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters transforms into Luigi's Joy to the Whirl, where Luigi and his family celebrate in style with festive dance numbers. Guests hop into a classic Italian import and glide, spin, and cruise along to synchronized choreography and a lively wintry soundtrack.
Holiday Details Hiding Across the Resort
The festive fun doesn't stop at the big attractions. Look for a skipper-inspired tree near the Jungle Cruise exit in Adventureland, tiny garland accents aboard Storybook Land Canal Boats, and wreaths tucked onto the backs of the Main Street Vehicles.
