Discover the Beautiful Weathervane of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
If you're planning a trip to Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort, make sure to look up while passing by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This attraction now features a stunning new update - a custom handcrafted weathervane created by Louisiana’s master blacksmith, Darryl Reeves.
Darryl is a 3rd generation master blacksmith based in New Orleans, a city where his work is prominently displayed. With over 50 years of experience and expertise in his craft, Walt Disney Imagineering asked Darryl to create the weathervane for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. It's one of the high points of the attraction and showcases Darryl's immense artistry and complexity in metalwork.
Darryl and his apprentice, Karina, used centuries-old techniques and a subtle African flair to create the weathervane for Princess Tiana's story. Their collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering is a testament to the highest priority of bringing authenticity to Disney parks and resorts, and to immerse guests in a truly inspiring tale.
Guests can experience this stunning collaboration when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, an attraction inspired by the story from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “The Princess and the Frog”, opens at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida in 2024.
