Discover the Bahamian Artists of Disney Lookout Cay
Disney Cruise Line’s newest destination on the island of Eleuthera offers guests an immersive experience in the spirit and culture of The Bahamas, accompanied by signature Disney entertainment, stunning beaches, port adventures, nature trails, and activities for the whole family. One of the standout features of this island destination is the locally designed art that adorns Disney Lookout Cay.
These captivating, permanent art installations were crafted by Bahamian artists to showcase the vibrant colors and natural wonders of The Bahamas through a diverse range of sculptures, paintings, and more.
Let’s introduce some of the talented artists who played a pivotal role in bringing Disney Lookout Cay to life:
Upon arrival at Disney Lookout Cay, guests are greeted by a monumental sculpture created by acclaimed Bahamian artist Antonius Roberts, constructed from a fallen tree discovered on Lighthouse Point property before construction began. Keep an eye out for wood carvings inspired by Andret John’s original designs on the exterior doors throughout the destination.
At the Goombay Cultural Center and the cabanas, guests can admire paintings of Eleuthera’s landscapes by artist Kevin Cooper, featuring the famous Lighthouse Point Beach located just steps away. Nature-inspired sculptures by mixed media artist and painter Edrin Symonette can be found throughout Disney Lookout Cay.
The colorful designs adorning several buildings are original murals created by painter Dorman Stubbs, replicated at Disney Lookout Cay. Visitors are encouraged to look up in the dining pavilions to observe land- and sea-inspired art designed by interdisciplinary artist Kishan Munroe.
The art featured at Disney Lookout Cay adds a uniquely Bahamian touch to the overall experience, enriching guests' understanding and appreciation of the island's rich culture and natural beauty.
