Disney Adventure Officially Joins the Fleet with Spectacular Christening in Singapore
Disney Cruise Line celebrated the arrival of its newest ship, the Disney Adventure, with a dazzling christening ceremony at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre in Singapore. The event marked a major milestone for the expanding fleet and the cruise line’s first ship to homeport in Asia.
A Magical Celebration at Sea
The ceremony began inside the ship’s Walt Disney Theatre, where Disney storytelling took center stage. Guests enjoyed vibrant performances by regional vocalists and musicians, enhanced by dazzling visual effects and surprise appearances from beloved Disney friends.
Among those joining the celebration were Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, appearing as Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie to welcome the ship into the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
Music Honoring a Century of Storytelling
A 23-piece orchestra led guests on a musical voyage through beloved Disney, Pixar, and Marvel melodies. The performance celebrated more than a century of storytelling and highlighted the seven themed areas found aboard the Disney Adventure.
The orchestra was joined by acclaimed performers, including Jed Madela—a Hollywood Performing Arts Hall of Fame inductee—and international recording artist Dami Im.
Together, they created a spectacular tribute to the worlds of imagination that guests will experience aboard the ship.
Leadership Marks a Historic Moment
The celebration also welcomed key leaders from The Walt Disney Company. Josh D'Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences and incoming CEO of The Walt Disney Company, joined Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences, on stage during the ceremony.
D’Amaro emphasized how Disney Cruise Line continues to deliver storytelling and innovation to destinations around the globe. As the first Disney ship based in Asia, the Disney Adventure introduces the magic of Disney to new audiences across the region.
A Heroic Godparent Blessing
The ship’s official godparent, Robert Downey Jr., delivered the ceremonial blessing for the Disney Adventure.
During the momentous occasion, Downey Jr. praised the creativity of Walt Disney Imagineering and celebrated the ship’s adventurous spirit.
With theatrical flair, he cued the orchestra before delivering the traditional blessing:
“I christen thee, Disney Adventure. May God bless this ship and all who sail upon her.”
Let’s Set Sail
The ceremony concluded with a joyful finale as Disney characters led guests in the beloved Disney Cruise Line tradition, singing “Let’s Set Sail.”
The celebratory send-off marked the beginning of a new chapter for Disney Cruise Line as the Disney Adventure prepares to welcome guests and bring unforgettable storytelling to the seas from its Singapore homeport.
