Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary: Exciting New Experiences Coming to Main Street, U.S.A. on July 17

Disneyland Park’s iconic entrance, Main Street, U.S.A., welcomes guests into a charming, turn-of-the-century American town inspired by Walt Disney’s childhood home of Marceline, Missouri. As Disneyland Resort prepares to celebrate its 70th anniversary, exciting new experiences will debut on July 17, 2025, honoring the park’s rich history while embracing the future of The Happiest Place on Earth.

A Tribute to the Sherman Brothers at Main Street Cinema

Main Street Cinema will soon showcase the incredible legacy of the legendary Sherman brothers, the songwriting duo behind many beloved Disney melodies.

A new three-and-a-half-minute film, The Last Verse, will premiere, celebrating the enduring message of unity and hope in It’s a Small World. Created for the song’s 60th anniversary, the film features a newly written final verse, composed by Richard M. Sherman in his last contribution to Disney:

"Mother earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all."

Starting July 17, this verse will also be added to the It’s a Small World attraction at Disneyland.

New Exhibits at the Main Street Opera House

The Main Street Opera House will feature a brand-new gallery highlighting Disneyland’s evolution from Walt Disney’s original dream to the world-renowned theme park it is today. Rare and never-before-seen images, artwork, and artifacts—curated by Walt Disney Imagineering and the Walt Disney Archives—will showcase the park’s transformation over the decades.

Guests can also explore an exhibit dedicated to the history of Audio-Animatronics technology, tracing its origins from Walt’s early innovations to the advanced animatronics seen in attractions today.

Exclusive Artifacts from The Walt Disney Family Museum

In collaboration with The Walt Disney Family Museum, more than 30 historic artifacts will be on display, including personal items from Walt Disney’s apartment above the Fire Station on Main Street, U.S.A. Guests will have the rare opportunity to see his original rocking chair, lamp, and table—never before exhibited at Disneyland Park.

Additionally, a collection of Walt Disney’s prestigious awards will be featured, including:

  • His 1955 Emmy® Award for Walt Disney’s Disneyland
  • The Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964
  • The Walt Disney Commemorative Medal, presented to Lillian Disney by President Richard Nixon in 1969

“Walt Disney – A Magical Life” Debuts July 17

These exhibits will debut alongside Walt Disney – A Magical Life, a captivating cinematic experience chronicling Walt Disney’s journey. Featuring remastered footage and authentic audio recordings, the film takes guests from Walt’s humble beginnings to his groundbreaking impact on the entertainment industry.

When the curtain rises, an Audio-Animatronic Walt Disney will appear, sharing personal stories and inspiring words of wisdom. After its initial run, Walt Disney – A Magical Life will rotate with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

Honoring Walt’s Vision for the Future

At the conclusion of the experience, guests will be reminded of Walt Disney’s enduring vision:

"Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."

The exit lobby will highlight upcoming projects and innovations that will shape Disneyland’s future, celebrating its ongoing evolution.

As Disneyland marks this extraordinary milestone, Imagineers are crafting these new experiences to honor its legacy while looking ahead to an exciting future. Be part of history when these incredible offerings debut on July 17, 2025!
