Disney Treasure Sculpture Celebrates Disney Legend
A dedicated Walt Disney Imagineering workshop at Walt Disney World Resort is crafting a new sculpture for the Haunted Mansion Parlor onboard the Disney Treasure. This mysterious bust was inspired by the famed Disney Legend, Rolly Crump, who played a crucial role in designing the original Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Resort. Today, on Rolly's birthday, the world celebrates him and his many contributions to Disney Parks.
Rolly, nicknamed by Walt Disney himself, envisioned a "Museum of the Weird" in the Haunted Mansion during its early days. Now, six decades later, the Haunted Mansion Parlor will bring the next chapter of the Haunted Mansion saga to life for Disney Cruise Line guests, imbued with Rolly's unique brand of humor and celebrating the weird and fantastical.
The design for Rolly's memorial bust was derived from his original ideas for the "Museum of the Weird," featuring sculpted drips on the side of his face and a memorial plaque reading, "BROTHER ROLAND- FOREVER REVERED FOR EMBRACING THE WEIRD." When the Disney Treasure sets sail, Rolly Crump's statue will have a place of honor within the Haunted Mansion Parlor.
