Monstropolis Is Cooking Up a Seriously Screamy Menu for 2027

Monstropolis is preparing to feed humans at last—and the menu may have more eyeballs than etiquette suggests.

When the world of Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2027, its bustling monster city will come with two new dining spots: the familiar Harryhausen’s and the all-new Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza. Disney’s culinary and beverage teams are turning favorite details from Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University into food and drinks that are a little strange, a little silly and, importantly, still delicious for human appetites.

Monsters Have Different Ideas About Appetizers

Creating cuisine for Monstropolis has prompted some wonderfully unusual questions for Chef Brian Piasecki, Director of Culinary and Concept Development, Beverage Director Evan Rosenthal and their collaborators: Do monsters slurp? Do they chew? And exactly how many eyeballs are too many?

The apparent answer to that last question is: not nearly enough. The team describes its approach as “grossly fun”—recognizable dishes given bold, playful twists that belong in a city powered by laughs. Walt Disney Imagineering and the culinary team have closely studied the characters, settings and tiny visual details of both films to keep the edible storytelling rooted in the world fans know.

Harryhausen’s Gets Eight Hands in the Kitchen

Harryhausen’s, the swanky restaurant seen in Monsters, Inc., is being recreated as a table-service restaurant with a lively, movie-inspired atmosphere. The dining room’s head sushi chef will be a new Audio-Animatronic figure, using eight tentacles to prepare food at the center of the action. That is one kitchen crew member unlikely to ask for extra counter space.

Sushi will not be the only item on the menu. Disney is also exploring ramen bowls inspired by traditional Japanese flavors, including rich tonkotsu broth and alkaline ramen noodles. The monster-sized personality arrives in details such as fishcake cut into eyeball shapes and green eggs.

A Slice of Monsters University Nostalgia

Just down the street, Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza will bring a different corner of monster life to the table. Inspired by the pizza hangout from Monsters University, this quick-service restaurant is meant to feel like the beloved neighborhood spot where monster college students gathered after class.

The menu development is drawing from the nostalgia of childhood pizza shops, then adding a few unexpected Monstropolis touches. At its core, Archie’s is intended to remain the sort of pizza place worth returning to—only with considerably more monsters in the booth beside you.

Blort May Finally Bubble Into the Human World

A staple beverage from Monsters University is also under consideration for its real-world debut. Blort, one of Monstropolis’ most popular soft drinks, has never been seen or tasted by humans, leaving plenty of room for Disney’s beverage team to experiment.

One possibility is a purple frozen take on the fictional soda, topped with Scream Apple Foam. The final details have not been confirmed, but the concept sounds appropriately alarming in the tastiest possible way.

Save Room for 2027

Together, Harryhausen’s and Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza are set to show off two sides of everyday Monstropolis: a lively night out and a favorite campus-adjacent hangout. Every dish, drink and dining-room detail is being shaped to help fans step beyond the screen and into the city of Sulley, Mike and their fellow monsters.

Monstropolis welcomes humans to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2027. Until then, an appetite—and perhaps a tolerance for edible eyeballs—would be wise preparation.
