Grab the guitar and cue the marigolds: Disneyland Resort’s all-new Coco attraction is officially taking shape, and the latest details paint a colorful picture of a family-friendly voyage through the Land of the Dead.

Imagineers are developing the attraction alongside Pixar, with the story honoring both the original Coco film and the upcoming Coco 2. Miguel, Dante, Héctor and more familiar friends are expected to be part of the journey.

A Year Later, the Music Plays On

The attraction’s story picks up one year after the events of the original film. Its queue will begin in Pixar Pier, next to Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, where guests will enter a “casa museo” devoted to the music of Miguel’s great-great-grandfather, Héctor Rivera.

That is a pretty fitting first note for an attraction centered on the Rivera family’s legacy.

Board a Boat Bound for Memories

From the casa museo, guests will join Miguel on a boat ride through his memories of the Land of the Dead. The experience will lean into the music and emotion that made Coco such a treasured Pixar story, while adding fun and surprises along the way.

The heart of the attraction remains firmly rooted in the film’s biggest themes: family, characters, music, Mexican culture and the love passed from one generation to the next.

No Measuring Tape Required

One especially helpful planning detail has already been confirmed: the new Coco attraction will have no height requirement. That means the whole family can join Miguel’s voyage together—little skeleton enthusiasts included.
