Avengers Campus is preparing for a very large dose of heroic chaos. Disney California Adventure’s Marvel land is in the middle of an expansion that will double its size, and the two headlining attractions now have an official opening target: 2028.

Two New Missions, One Bigger Campus

Construction is underway for Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, both first announced at D23 2024. Avengers Campus will also soon reconnect with Cars Land, giving the expanding land another route into Disney California Adventure.

Both attractions are scheduled to open in 2028. That leaves a little time for the Avengers to get organized—which, historically, has not always been their strongest skill.

Avengers Infinity Defense Takes on King Thanos

At Avengers Infinity Defense, guests will join the action as new recruits. The mission begins with a pre-mission briefing from Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani, before recruits set out to reassemble the Avengers and stop King Thanos from causing havoc across the universe.

The attraction will bring back several familiar on-screen heroes, including Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.

Guests will move through massive physical sets blended with enormous media scenes, creating the sensation of racing across multiple worlds. The adventure includes visits to Asgard, Wakanda and New York City alongside Marvel heroes—before a face-to-face encounter with King Thanos. No pressure.

Stark Flight Lab Puts Recruits in the Spin Zone

Stark Flight Lab trades multiverse hopping for a high-tech test run. Guests will climb into two-person gyro-kinetic pods that roll along a track before stopping in front of a giant robot arm.

From there, the robot arm sends each pod through high-speed maneuvers inspired by Iron Man and other flying Avengers, creating a simulated flight-training experience with plenty of whirling. The setup is meant to feel like a chance to train as a flying Avenger, minus the need to build a powered suit in the garage.

The Marvel Talent Is Reporting for Duty

Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Iron Man in Stark Flight Lab, joined by Anthony Mackie as Captain America and Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. Mackie and Downey will also appear in Avengers Infinity Defense, giving the expanded Campus two new missions with an impressive roster already assembled.

With two attractions, a larger footprint and a connection to Cars Land on the way, Avengers Campus is building toward its biggest chapter yet when the new experiences debut in 2028.
